Bioeffect reprogramming the skin cells

That cosmetic products originate from France, surprised no one. That on the largest volcanic island of the earth and the most sparsely populated country in Europe, innovative anti-aging products are developed and produced, surprised even me.

Bioeffect is Made in Island. Already five years ago, I visited a greenhouse on the sparse and rugged island, which stands completely solitary in the middle of a region of a lunar landscape, near Reykjavik. Here, the active ingredient carrier, which is found in all Bioeffect products, is grown: «EGF». Large fields of barley accommodate the epidermal growth factor (EGF) in their shoots. This "skin growth factor" EGF acts as a natural signaling system between the skin cells. For some kind of communication between the affected cells, to the newly stimulated cell activity, leading to increased collagen and elastin production. These are largely responsible for the external signs of aging because they slow down with age their natural production becoming stronger.

Three Icelandic molecular biologists discovered seven years ago that the EGF can be reproduced in barley. One of them, Dr. Björn Örvar, co-founder and CSO (Chief Scientific Officer) Bioeffect, I now met in Zurich for an interview again. He came especially for the latest product presentation of Bioeffect, the EGF + 2A Daily Treatment to Switzerland.
